This fabulous Irish coin pendant is an ideal gift for the person in your life who loves a bit of vintage! A heartfelt, thoughtful gift for a wedding, birthday, Christmas present or special occasion.

The story card accompanying this pendant reads:

'This adornment is made from genuine old Irish coins. These stunning animal motifs were used in Irish currency from 1928-1969, to symbolise Ireland's agricultural economy, with the harp on the back of the coin being the national symbol. Many of the coins were updated after decimalisation, as well as new motifs added and some taken away. They continued to be used in Ireland until the euro arrived.'

Materials: Sterling silver belcher chain, sterling silver, genuine old Irish coin

Thinking and Process: Handmade from genuine old Irish coins, set in sterling silver, this bespoke coin jewellery brings nostalgia of a simpler time for those who remember them. Pocket money from a parent, a pay off from the tooth fairy, whatever the memory, the wearer becomes connected to the piece via memory. The preciousness in these coins lies in the sentiment. The coin is mounted in silver and the back detail is visible including the harp symbol, year it was minted and the word 'Eire' (Ireland). Forget about your four leaf clovers and leprechauns, this is real Ireland! A coin that has passed though thousands of hands through the decades. Using traditional jewellery techniques of soldering, coin setting, sanding and polishing, these coins are given a new lease of life.

Dimensions: Silver belcher chain 16", coin pendant 32mm x 25mm
